2016 BCS Marathon Relay Instructions

2016 Baylor Scott & White BCS Marathon Relay

Thank you for running in the Baylor Scott & White BCS Marathon Relay. We hope you and your team come away with a great experience. Please read these race day instructions very closely in preparation for the race. You will also receive this, along with maps of the relay exchange points, in your packet.

Transportation to Relay Exchanges:

Each team will be responsible for their own transportation to and from relay exchange points and back to the finish line on race day. We suggest each team have one or more drivers to drop off and pick up runners at each location. Time in the car together can be part of the team experience. Please plan ahead to ensure all runners are in place and are picked up in a timely manner. You should review the course map and road closures at bcsmarathon.com/the-race/spectators/.

Only complete teams are eligible to run on race morning:

Only complete teams should run the relay on race morning. Members need to coordinate to make sure the entire team is in place and ready.

Timing Chip:

Each team member bib contains a chip that will register at each split mat for your team. For a relay “baton”, each team captain will receive a silicon bracelet that will be passed at each exchange. The lead leg must start with the bracelet and the final leg must have it crossing the finish line.

Reuniting with Team Members:

Only the final runner in the team will cross the finish line. The remaining members of the team can meet up at the post-race area. The runner crossing the finish line will receive all medals to distribute to the team.

Relay Exchange Points and right of way:

All relay exchange points will be marked clearly with a sign, and have a volunteer present. It is helpful to know the pace of the runners on your team so you have an idea of when they should reach the exchange point. Please stay clear of full marathon runners. These runners should have the right of way at all times.
